You can now upload directly and we will send back a 'mock' mosaic image.

Step 1 & 2 - decide on artwork and purchase materials

Supply us with an image, the easiest way is to use our image upload form or simply write us an email directly with the image attached. sales@jianhan.com.au

We will then send you back several images in order to give you an idea of what your final artwork will look like when its transformed into mosaics.

Notes:

- The images sent to you will be high resolution, you will be able to see each tile.
- You can adjust the colour to your liking, just let us know what you want to change.
- The final artwork can be any dimension of your choosing.

Step 3 - understanding the charts

From left to right:

The tile name: This is the name code given to each tile colour in our range, each name is unique so as you can identify which colours you have.

Used Count: This is how many tiles of this colour are contained in your artwork.

Rows 1-8: In this example picture you can see the first 8 rows of a 27 row panel. Each artwork is made up from these 27 x 27 piece panels.

Paint by Numbers: Now on this example the first tile you would place in your tray at the top-left corner would be colour number 40, colour 40 equals PB-3, you then find this colour from your tiles and place it onto the tray and so the process continues until you have completed your first panel.

When you have agreed on your desired artwork from the images supplied we will then send you an excel file which essentially contains your artwork but in number form. If excel is not suitable we can arrange for other file types on request.

Step 4 - Building tools

At this stage you have your artwork selected, you have your excel file and you have all of the tiles, glue, netting and tile trays to start work. We will send all of this to you or as mentioned on the questions page, or you can get the factory to do all of this work for you.

Please note that we can also supply the grout required to place your finished design onto concrete.

Step 5 - Assemble your panels

From the image above you can see we have highlighted the panels. A number of these panels are produced in order to come up with the final artwork. Some panels may not be exactly 30cm x 30cm, such as at the edges or bottom of the artwork.

Step 6 - Display your new artwork

You may be creating an indoor pool mosaic such as the one pictured below or you may simply decide to frame your piece. Whatever you decide we are sure you will enjoy the art of mosaics.

Step by step assembly instructions

Now that you have your supplies and are ready to start we will detail how you should begin.

Preparation

Before you begin, it is a good idea to grease the tile trays slightly. This will reduce the number of tiles that get stuck after you have applied glue. For best results we recommended using Silicon spray or similar lubricant.

Step 1:

Step 2:

Assemble all of your tiles according to the colour chart provided. Separating the colours into common shades will aid with assembly. Place your tiles onto the tile tray, working on a single row at a time and following your colour chart. Place another tile tray over your completed design, the idea here is to sandwich your tiles between these two surfaces.

Step 3:

Step 4:

The lid is now firmly pressed down. Using both hands for a secure grip, flip your mosaic artwork over.

Step 5:

Step 6:

Lift away the base to reveal the underside of your tiles. Place some glue into a tray, taking care not to place too much into the tray. Place your netting over this layer of glue in the tray.

Step 7:

Step 8:

Using an old paintbrush, simply paint the netting with more glue until all of the netting is well coated. Take care to not drench the netting, as this may seep through to the front and create lumps on the surface of your tiles. Place the netting over the back of your tiles taking care to line up the edges so its square.

Step 9:

Step 10:

Paint some further glue over the top of the netting to make sure all tiles come in contact with the adhesive. Place your artwork in a dry (not damp) position to half dry. When half dry, place another flat tray on top and flip over. Now at this stage some tiles may remain stuck in the tray. Remove the the entire tray and then re-position the tiles stuck in the tray in the appropriate place. In the factory we place the trays into an oven to dry, but this is only to speed up the drying process.
