Questions & Answers

Q: What applications can your mosaic tiles be used for?
A: The tiles are very versatile and can be used indoors or outdoors. For example in kitchens, bathrooms, pools, decorative wall hangings, hotels, restaurants, public areas, subways, railway stations or anywhere you can imagine.

Q: How are the tiles made?
A: The tiles are fired under extreme heat in high temperature ovens at around 1200 degrees celcius.

Q: How durable are the tiles?
A: Because of the process of manufacturing the tiles are very crack and chip resistant. The glazing process adds a slight translucent curving to the surface to bring out the lustre and protect the colour.

Q: How can I place an order?
A: Our contact and banking details are located on the contact us page. One of our staff members would be more than happy to discuss your requirements.

Q: How many tiles make up a typical custom artwork?
A: Each artwork is different and it really depends on the nature of the image supplied, but usually around 8,100 tiles make up a 1m x 1m artwork.

Q: How do I organize for my custom artwork to be produced?
A: Its really simple, you supply us with an image of your choice and we use our software to map the colours to tiles. We then send you some examples of your image in tiles format and you can choose whether to make it yourself or get our factories to do the work for you.

Q: How much does it cost for a typical 1m x 1m artwork?
A: It depends on whether you produce the artwork yourself or let the factory make the mosaic artwork.
Factory:
The price is dependant on the complexity of the mosaic design and also which colours are used but typically the factory cost will be higher due to labour charges.
'Do it yourself':
The cost is mainly for the supplies to start working yourself, its always cheaper to do the mosaics yourself.

Note: Discounts will apply for larger orders.

Q: How long would be the turn around time (1m x 1m)?
A: For DIY artworks, 5 days, for factory supplied around 3-5 weeks.

Q: What is included in the package if I buy the supplies and tiles from you for a DIY arwork?
A: Included are: the tiles, netting for back of tile panels, glue and tile trays. Please see: DIY artworks for further information.
Notes:
- Grout is not included, we suggest you source the grout colour that best matches your artwork.
- Tile trays are only included for mosaic artworks that are 1m x 1m or larger.

Q: How are the artworks produced?
A: Each artwork is broken down into 30cm x 30cm panels, you or the factory will complete one of these panels at a time. At the edges or bottom of the artwork there may be half panels as well. Each of these panels are made using the paint by numbers system. Each tile colour has a colour code which corresponds to the colour chart. Each panel is then assembled and grouted to produce the final artwork. Please see: DIY artworks for further information.

Q: Will the tile colour fade under constant UV exposure?
A: The tiles will not fade under UV exposure due to the high quality colour pigments used. The colour will not degrade over time.

Q: Can the tiles be exposed to chemicals such as chlorine and detergents?
A: Our mosaic tiles are suitable for outdoor and indoor use. The tiles have passed ISO13006 and CE certification EN1411. The gold and silver colours have stronger resistance to acid or alkaline exposure, however they might oxidize and change colour if continuously exposed. We suggest special treatment of the tile surfaces with solutions we provide in these situations.

Q: Can the tiles be used for we area paving such as bathrooms or kitchens?
A: In these situations an anti slip solution layer can be added to the surface. This will not in any way degrade the tiles surface look and feel.

Q: The major differences between JH mosaic tiles and other mosaic tiles in the market.
A: Our tiles are of extremely high quality compared with the other tiles currently on the market. Most mosaic tiles have a thin glaze layer. Our glazes are of higher quality so the colours are brighter and clearer, the edges of the tiles are also smooth and have a 3D appearance.

Q: Why are curved mosaic products are more expensive?
A: Curved mosaic products are more expensive due to higher quality raw material, lower production rate and higher labor on netting
